Mei-Tei - tutorial

I have been looking for new ways to carry my baby - I am currently using the baby björn but I find it a bit tough on my back and can't wear it for too long, I thought the best would be to carry my baby like a backpack and found out that the Mei-Tei could do that. There is a person in Denmark that does super nice Mei-Teis but are a bit expensive (Kleinsmekker)...and I was afraid to buy once more a new item that would not serve my needs like soooo many other things I've bought for the baby in the past... So I decided it would be safer to start with a "homemade version" made out of old curtains with the help of this great tutorial from Jan Andrea. I've taken some pictures along the way to illustrate the process:

I started by cutting two pieces for the body - a big square (mine measured 50 cm X 50 cm) I added a little half ellipse on top to give it that curved look

8 long stripes (1m60 X 13 cm)

Cut 2 "padding" fleece (30cm X 13cm), that I attached to the two shoulder straps (the padding stripe is folded in two on the picture)

I sew the stripes two by two right sides together, left an opening to turn them inside out and machine stitch 0,5 cm from the border

Then I placed the stripes on the body of the Mei-Tei (right side facing up)

and covered it with the "lining" of the Mei-Tei body, right side facing down. Secured with pins, sew 1 cm from the border of the fabric and left a little opening to turn the whole thing inside out. Topstitch to secure the straps.

And voilà

M-Budget Baby Bib

I was desperatly in need of more bibs for my baby and decided to recycle an old towel we had in our closet

I reproduced the pattern of a bib I like on a piece of paper and cut a few shapes from the towel



Then I did some bias tape (easy with this tool you see on the first picture) and then applied it all around the bib





And here is the result - I have to say I like the texture of these bibs because they absorb very well the water that unavoidably will drop from my sweetie pie's mouth

Swap "Se faire plaisir" - part 2

Voilà je viens de recevoir mon swap de Christine - Merci beaucoup! C'est très très sympa tout ce qu'elle m'a envoyé - un petit tour du colis:

Tout d'abord l'emballage: un magnifique tissu doré

Du café soluble - espresso et j'adore

J'ai eu de la chance d'avoir droit à deux gourmandises! Une confiture faite maison aux mirabelles

Et du chocolat lindt que j'apprecie énormément (j'ai un faible pour le chocolat...)


Ensuite viennent les coeurs et j'ai fait une découverte: la poudre de riz, je ne connaissais pas, ça sent très très bon - donc voilà le coeur parfumé à la poudre de riz


Et une tasse à café qui tombe à pique, il m'en manquait une pour le boulot :-)


Côté coquetterie j'ai reçu ces articles pour le bain, malheureusment pour moi je n'ai pas de salle de bain pour le moment mais ça peut venir...


Le marque page est brodé, très belle exécution (et moi je suis nulle en broderie) mais aussi ce qui m'a beaucoup plu, c'est que la doublure a été cousue à la main, ce qui est rare!


Et enfin and not the least elle m'a envoyé de la lavande de son jardin avec une jolie pochette pour la mettre dedans et parfumer mon armoire - l'odeur est juste fantastique! (Et j'avais aussi un grand besoin de quelque chose comme ça pour protéger mes habits des mites! donc merci merci)


Ah oui et aussi la carte qui a tout de suite été réquisitionnée par mon petit bout de chou

Swap "Se faire plaisir" - part 1

Ch'tricote viens de recevoir mon colis pour le swap "se faire plaisir", je peux maintenant dévoiler son contenu - tout d'abord l'emballage:

A la question thé ou café? La réponse était : un thé vert fruité



Accompagné de chocolat à la cerise (en forme de grenouille)

Les cadeaux coeurs sont - un jeu de coeurs en carton pour le scrap


et une petite pochette avec un coeur brodé sur le côté

Pour le cosmétique j'ai opté pour une crème pour les mains et un masque de Hauschka vu que ch'tricote est comme moi - nature

Pour l'objet déco j'ai décidé de faire une banderole de décoration pour les anniversaires, je me suis dit que ce serait utile pour une si grande famille (elle a beaucoup, beaucoup d'enfants)

J'ai trouvé dans une boutique bio cette magnifique broche faite à la main - malgré que ma swappée aime bien les glaieuls - je n'ai pas pu résister, j'éspère que cela lui plaira quand même

Et enfin le marque page - ma swappée aimant les coccinelles voilà le résultat

ipod shuffle - the survivor

As crazy as it sounds...yes my ipod shuffle (2nd generation) survived a tour in the washine machine! I had forgotten it in a pocket of my jeans...truly amazing piece of technology.
This little thing follows me everywhere I go. I mainly use it to listen to radio podcasts and to motivating music when I go out running, it clips everywhere, it's easy to start and stop and it's very light. I took mine in grey as it matches best with the ear set color.
